Overview

SSMC’s Division of Neonatology focuses on infants and the factors that can influence their growth and longevity. Neonatologists consult with obstetricians, pediatricians, family physicians and other medical experts while caring for patients during labor and delivery, making neonatology inherently multidisciplinary.

Our division comprises experts who assist with high-risk deliveries, identify symptoms, treat infants and premature babies and stabilize critical cases. In addition, they treat newborns with congenital abnormalities, infections, or breathing problems, as well as those with low birth weight. The division also includes a referral center for complex neonatal surgery.

SSMC’s NICU is a level III facility that employs state-of-the-art technology to care for babies with medically fragile conditions. Nurses, respiratory therapists, nutritional experts, physiotherapists, and lactation consultants are part of the collaborative team that provides complex medical and surgical care in the NICU.
