Dr. Waseem Fathalla, ABP, ABPN, is the Consultant Pediatric Neurologist and a Chair of Pediatric Neurology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in UAE.

Dr. Fathalla obtained his medical degree from Damascus University Medical School and completed his Pediatric Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in 1997, in which he gained an American Board General Pediatrics certification. He then completed a 3-year child neurology residency at Texas Children’s Hospital/ Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas (1997-2000). He holds American board certification in neurology with a special qualification in children’s neurology.

Furthermore, Dr. Fathallah’s areas of specialized interest include critical care neurology, neurometabolic/neurogenetic disorders, end-of-life care and Islamic bioethics. In addition to his medical accomplishments, he holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Islamic Science. Dr. Fathalla served as program director in the pediatric residency program (2017-2022). He is currently an associate program director of the general pediatric residency.
